Has anyone heard of Jjimdak? It’s a Korean dish of braised chicken in soy sauce, with a variety of vegetables such as onions, spring onions, carrots, potatoes and more! It’s a dish I would eat whenever I visit Korea, it’s really that good ❤️
I had this in Myeongdong, Korea (Myeongdong really has many good food places) in a shop called “Andong JJimdak“. It’s a really popular shop and has two stories, do check them out! Jjimdak is usually served in a big portion and shared among people, and is eaten with rice.
Jjimdak is slightly spicy, as they fry dried chilli peppers in the oil before cooking the chicken. For those who cannot eat too spicy food, do tell the waitress for “less spicy” when you’re ordering!
Jjimdak is actually one of my favourite dishes to cook, it can be cooked in just ONE pot! That’s really important to me as I don’t really want to wash too many pots. It’s also easy to cook – first you stir-fry the chicken , ensure it is cooked before throwing all the cut ingredients into the pot alongside the prepared sauce and let it braise. Isin’t that really easy? The full recipe I follow is at https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/dakjjim 🙂
I don’t have a picture of the Jjimdak I cooked 😦 , but I will post it the next time I cook it okay! I hope you enjoyed my post today, please do follow me on my website and on my instagram @whiskoflife. I will be posting every alternate days, so do follow me and stay tuned!
Bye for now xoxo
