I will be sharing about my trip to Korea earlier this June 🙂 Having travelled to Korea a few times already, I do have places that I recommend going and I’ll be sharing them with you all. Do look out for the hashtag #KoreaTrip for my posts about Korea!
Okay let’s get started – the first location I really recommend going is Myeongdong ❤
Myeongdong is a shopping haven for clothes and cosmetics, and there are a lot of good food places located all around the Myeongdong shopping area. As it is a tourist area, do be prepared to fight your way through the crowd especially on weekends.
During my trip, I stayed at a hotel just 5 minutes’ walk from Myeongdong shopping street, which gave me the freedom to visit other places in the morning and explore Myeongdong at night. Last minute shopping was also much easier 😝
As a fan of Korean cosmetics, it is a dream to be shopping in Myeongdong. There are many big brands like Innisfree, EtudeHouse, theSaem and more. What’s great about Myeongdong is that there is more than one outlet of the same stall. You can see another Innisfree outlet just few rows down or even a few shops down! This gives you the flexibility of going to the outlet you prefer, or if one shop is very crowded, just go to the next one.
Another attraction of Myeongdong is the street food. Every night (if I’m not wrong), cars would be barred from entering the shopping street and street vendors would line up their carts selling street food. There are stalls selling ddeokbokki (spicy rice cakes), japchae (glass noodles), eomuk (fishcakes), egg bread, freshly made fruit juice and so on. In between your shopping spree you can just grab a small bite here and there, for a relatively cheap price! I love eating street food because you can try many types of food without getting very full 🙂
There are also many famous restaurants located in Myeongdong, such as Andong Jjimdak (see my Jjimdak post), Sulbing Bingsu (see my Bingsu post), Congee House, Sinseon Seolnongtang and more. There are also many famous fried chicken restaurants for those Chimaek fans out there.
For those of you who are interested in K-pop, there are a few shops located in the underground shopping street near the subway selling albums, unofficial merchandise, official merchandise and more.
One shop that is worth visiting is Artbox, it’s really beautiful inside as seen below!
I can’t believe I took one post to share about Myeongdong, but I guess it shows how much I love Myeongdong 🙂 I really really recommend Myeongdong as a place to visit, so do check it out if you’re travelling to Korea!
